In honour of the reigning Heineken Cup champions, Munster, Heineken have decided that the first show will be broadcast live from the Young Munster Rugby Football Club in Limerick. Munster will kick-off their defence of the title at Welford Road this weekend against former double winners Leicester Tigers. The Irishmen lost their opening Pool game on their way to the Cardiff ’06 final last season when they were beaten by Sale Sharks.

This show is mostly about remaining in touch with the essence of the Heineken Cup, discussing the talking points, enjoying the atmosphere and excitement that comes with each weekend. Heineken want this series to be an unmissable viewing for rugby fans and want to bring the action closer to the fans, while extending the excitement of a Heineken Cup weekend into the few days before the match as part of the build up to the games.

Pat Maher, Heineken National Events and Sponsorship Manager, said, “Heineken are proud to commission this new programme as it will offer rugby and sports fans a different viewpoint and greater expression of what is happening in the tournament. We are delighted to offer fans in-depth knowledge and views that they are constantly seeking. The Heineken Cup is not just about the game on the pitch, it is about excitement and passion and also unique moments of rugby.

The 12th Heineken Cup tournament is poised to explode on the European club rugby scene this weekend with an array of Round 1 matches at the start of the long haul to Twickenham and the London 07 final on Sunday, 20 May, 2007. There are 24 teams from six nations in contention for the coveted title and 78 matches to be played before the finalists run out at Twickenham but over 17,500 tickets have already been snapped up for the Heineken Cup showpiece occasion.
