This year s Avonmore Milk Munster Schools Senior Cup Final has all the ingredients of a classic final. With both schools steeped in a tradition of rugby and a history of unearthing some of the brightest young talent in the sport, Friday s clash is the latest in a number of titanic struggles between the two sides in the recent past. Just a point separated the two sides in the 2002 and 2004 finals, with St. Munchin s College taking the honours on both occasions. After a break of eight years, Presentation Brothers College reclaimed the title last year, having been defeated in the three consecutive finals previously. These teams bring with them a wealth of pride and tradition to the Avonmore Milk Munster Schools Senior Cup Final, with both sides determined to fight their corner and claim the mantle of champions. On their journey to the decider both of today s contestants have shown some outstanding form. P.B.C. saw off the challenge of a gallant Glenstal Abbey side in a thrilling match, before they over came their great rivals C.B.C. in the penultimate stage of the competition. St. Munchin s College were equally impressive in disposing of the challenge of Rockwell College, and held off the strong challenge of Crescent College Comprehensive following a tough battle. For the spectator, the St. Patrick s Day clash is certainly a mouth watering prospect, with some of Munster s most talented young players on display in the final of what is the highlight of the schools rugby calendar.
