Weekend Results as weather plays havoc with Junior League program

No change at the top of the three Divisions of the All Ireland League, as Clanwilliam booked their place in the Junior League Play Offs

The weather has caused chaos to the Junior rugby program as some vital games had to be postponed, while in the All Ireland League Munster clubs continue to dominate.

Next week’s Heineken Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Cup Final between Kanturk and Youghal has had to be postponed to allow yesterday’s postponed games to be rescheduled in the First Division of the Heineken Munster Junior League.

In the AIB All Ireland League it was a good day for the Munster clubs with all four winning and now a lot of interest will focus on next week’s top of the table clash between Shannon and Cork Constitution at Thomond Park.

In Division Two, Young Munster lost ground after being held by Ballynahinch, while leaders Terenure dealt U.C.C.’s promotion hopes a big blow with a 21-8 victory. Dolphin kept up the pace with a 16-10 win at Malone.

In Division Three, leaders Clonakilty suffered their first defeat when Suttonians defeated them 23-12. Both Bruff and Nenagh Ormond maintained their challenge with victories.

In the Heineken Munster Junior League Clanwilliam have booked their place in the play-offs with a 19-12 victory over Cashel. Kilfeacle can deprive Cashel of a place in the play offs should they win their re-arranged game against Charleville next week.
The other place in the knock out stages is between Kanturk and Skibbereen and these sides will attempt to get their game played next weekend.

Both Mallow and Ballincollig had to postpone their promotion celebrations after both their games were postponed. No date has yet been set for the Mallow v Kinsale and Galbally v Ballincollig ties.

Bantry Bay made their own bit of history by reaching their first ever final with a 16-8 victory over Castleisland in the semi-final of the Junior Two League South and will now face Cork Constitution in next week’s decider.
