Right Price Tiles Volunteer Recognition Programme

Frank Moynihan, from Sunday’s Well RFC, recently became the December winner of the Right Price Tile Volunteer of the Month.

The Munster Branch is delighted to congratulate Frank Moynihan from Sunday s Well RFC on becoming the December winner of the Right Price Tiles Volunteer of the Month.

A pillar of the club for over 30 years, Frank enjoyed a very successful playing career with the club before getting involved in the coaching and management of various teams. Frank is currently manager of the Sunday s Well Under 20 s team who are on a very successful run at the minute, benefiting a lot from his dedication, which is often unheralded as it takes place behind the scenes. As well as the running of the team, Frank helps players to get part time jobs and personally taking players to and from training. He makes sure that everything runs smoothly so that coach and former Munster star John O Neill can concentrate fully on his job with the players. Frankie is always on hand to deal with any problems arising as quickly and efficiently as possible and also had a big hand in the recruitment of players into the team.

Nominated by his club, who greatly appreciate and recognise his hard work, Frankie is something of a father figure to the team, and we believe that he has had a very large part to play in the team s success this season.

He doesn t confine himself to the Under 20s and takes a great interest in both the Senior, Junior and Underage teams in the club. The involvement in the club is very much a family affair, with his sons also heavily involved on the playing front and vital members of their respective squads. Joe and John Moynihan have both been performing well for the Seniors, while Francis is one of the many outstanding players on the Under 20 team. Michael is captain of the Under 18 s and has come up with some vital tries to help the side maintain their 100% start to the season. His efforts have seen him called up to the Irish Youths Squad.

Frank joins Nenagh Ormond s Pat Whelan, who was the inaugural winner of the Right Price Tiles Volunteer of the Month in November.

The Right Price Tiles Volunteer Recognition Programme was launched to give clubs and schools the opportunity to acknowledge the significant contribution made by individuals who have developed, promoted and/or advanced the sport of Rugby in the local community and in the province.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of every sport and leisure organisation in Ireland, and without these people our clubs and organisations would fail to function effectively. In every sport, hero is the term often used to describe those who excel in the field of play. However, those involved in sport will recognise that in every club and school in the province, the people behind the scenes are also heroes in the true sense of the word. Through the Volunteer Recognition Programme, Munster Rugby would like to acknowledge, honour and reward these heroes who devote countless hours week in week out, year after year to provide a safe and enjoyable environment at the grassroots of the game. From the kitchen worker to the weekend linesman to the parents that manage and coach under-age sides. True heroes, each one of them.

This programme kicked off in November and will finish in May 2006, with six individual Volunteer of the Month awards given. The Volunteer Recognition programme is open to any person currently associated with domestic rugby in Munster, in a non-paid capacity at a club, school, college, university or associated affiliate of Munster Branch IRFU.

The Programme is the brainchild of Damon Urlich, Club Development Manager for Munster Rugby. Volunteers are the heart and soul of all rugby organisations and by supporting the Recognition Programme you can contribute towards highlighting their value. This is a fantastic opportunity for clubs, schools and colleges to acknowledge loyal volunteers and to help raise the profile of all rugby volunteers in the province.
