Underlying the growing strength of rugby in CIT over the past few years, the college is very proud to have supplied seven players to the Munster U-21 team which has already beaten Leinster, Ulster and Connacht in this year s Championship. The front row are all CIT students- Darragh Hurley (UCC), Batt Duggan (UCC), and Dave Ryan (Highfield). Michael Essex (UCC) plays at No. 7 and was the captain of CIT Freshers team which won the ICRU O’ Boyle Cup for the first time last season. Duncan Williams (UCC) is at 9 and on the two wings are Ed Mills (Dolphin) and Eric Moloney (UCC).

Other representative honours for CIT students this year are Ollie McGlinchey (Cashel), reserve scrum half on the Munster Junior team which won the Junior Interprovincial series and Neil Bourke (UCC) who propped for the Munster U-19 team.
