There are no changes at the top of the AIL after the weekend games, but Nenagh Ormond’s hopes of taking the Heineken Munster Junior League title look doomed for another season, after their last minute defeat by Clonmel.

A try deep in injury time preserved Cork Constitution’s unbeaten run in the AIL, as they defeated St. Mary’s 20-16. Shannon kept in touch with the leaders with a 20-11 home win over Co. Carlow. The big surprise of the day was Dolphin’s 15-10 defeat of Dungannon at Stevenson Park, but Garryowen suffered a heavy defeat, going down to Belfast Harlequins 50-17.

U.L. Bohemian got back into contention for promotion with a 26-19 win away to Malone and also secured a bonus point. For the rest of the Munster teams involved in this Division, it was a disappointing day. Old Crescent were defeated by leaders Old Belvedere 21-7. Young Munster lost 30-17 away to Ballynahinch. Waterpark nearly pulled off a shock win over second placed Barnhall, but John Lillis failed with an injury time penalty, as they went down 20-18 and Sunday’s Well moved closer to the Third Division, after they lost 26-10 at home to DLSP.

Highfield increased their lead at the top of the Third Division with a 28-22 win away to Queens University and Clonakilty defeated Ballina 33-15.

The Heineken Munster Junior League looks like it is a two horse race between Bruff and Kilfeacle. Leader’s Bruff had a free weekend, while Kilfeacle moved to within a point of the top with a 27-19 win over arch rivals Clanwilliam. Nenagh Ormond joined Bruff at the top of the table, after they picked up a bonus point in their 21-20 defeat by Clonmel, but having played two games more then the leaders there challenge looks over.

Richmond won the bottom of the table clash, when they defeated St. Mary’s 13-11. They are now five points behind Youghal, who crashed at Bandon 32-7. Old Christians moved up the table with a 27-10 home win over Crosshaven and Cobh Pirates blitzed St. Senan’s in the second half with a six try burst for a 50-8 victory.

Tralee extended their lead at the top of Division Two with a 24-3 home win over Kanturk, while neighbours Castleisland did them a favour with a 15-7 win over second placed Cashel. Thurles moved back into second place after their 13-0 win over Muskerry and Skibbereen kept up their challenge with a 33-0 win against Ballincollig. Douglas remain joint bottom with Ballincollig after Charleville defeated them 25-6 and the Ennis v Waterford City game fell victim to the weather.

Abbeyfeale are the new leaders of the Third Division after their 33-5 home win over Kinsale and Mallow’s surprise 10-3 defeat by Newport. Fermoy kept their challenge alive with a 74-0 win over Kilrush. Newcastle West defeated Dungarvan 27-22, Galbally had a 24-0 victory over Killarney and Presentation got back to winning ways with a 31-7 win at home to Carrick-on-Suir.

There were mixed fortunes for Midleton, with Thomond defeating them 13-6 in the top of the table clash in the Munster Seconds League, Division Two, but there U20 side pulled off a big surprise with a 20-17 win over Highfield in the Cup.

The McCarthy Cup Final will be an all West Cork affair after Bandon defeated Cork Transport 15-3 and Skibbereen saw off the challenge of Fermoy 29-15.
