Making Travel Arrangements – Be Warned

Those of you who may be making travel plans for future matches whether they be to watch Munster or Ireland might be intersted in a letter this site received from supporters trying to get to Treviso.

Those of you who may be making travel arrangemnt for future matches whether they be to watch Munster or Ireland might be intersted in a letter this site received from supporters trying to get to Treviso.

We would advise that before you commit financilly to any deals you take note of what happened to this group of Munster supporters.

We are four members of the Munster supporters club who go to all home matches and at least a couple of away matches every year. Being on the ball, as soon as the fixtures were announced, I booked for four of us Cork – Stanstead – Treviso. Three months later Ryanair inform us that the time has changed for the Cork – Stanstead leg which means we have to go out on a previous flight six hours earlier missing most of a days work (we are all self employed and this is a big deal for some).

The real rub is that we will have to cool our heels in Stanstead for about eight hours while in the meantime an earlier flight will take off from Stanstead to Treviso without us unless we stump up about 500 euro extra for the privilege of transferring to Ryanairs earlier flight. You know the standard line from Ryanair is that they are a point-to-point airline and are not responsible for subsequent costs incurred.

That said, they are perfectly prepared to take our money in September for a January flight plus whatever they get for us also booking and paying in advance for a Ryanair listed Hotel. Now they turn around and tell us that despite the significant cost already incurred by us due to the enforced cancellation of our four working days we would have to pay the current (ie. dearer) cost of flights plus transfer charges even though they had our money three months before the changed the flight times. (are you still with me?)

Anyway I have been ever-so-pleasant with the nice people at Ryanair – although some of my colleagues are threatening hellfire and brimstone. The one sensible person I have spoken to at that airline (a lady called Jemma Walsh) has said that it is beyond her powers to alter our times without charging all the extra costs, and suggested we would need to take it up with Ryanair corporate affairs. I wondered if you could help in any of the following ways. Wave your magic wand and make the baddies repent.

Having messed up our plans (costing us serious time and money) we are not looking for any compensation from Ryanair only for them to accommodate us on the earlier flight from Stanstead to Treviso. This wont cost them a cent extra and if they could only be brought to see this they would save ourselves and them an awful lot of grief.

Sorry to have gone on at such length – but we are all seriously peed off.
