Con Keep Play Off Hopes Alive

As Clontarf maintained their progress to the quarter finals with victory over Co Carlow, Cork Constitution kept their slim play off hopes alive with a victory over UL Bohs in Thomond Park.

As Clontarf maintained their progress to the quarter finals with victory over Co Carlow in Oak Park, Cork Constitution kept their slim play off hopes alive with a 41-15 victory over UL Bohemians in Thomond Park. Just as important from a Munster/Ireland point of view, Ronan O’Gara came through his return to competitive fare with flying colours, scoring a try in the process and having a hand in the brace scored by Derek Dillon.

Con’s victory over second from bottom Bohs leaves them on 25 points, ten behind fourth placed Buccaneers but Con have a game in hand and three of Buccaneers’ remaining four games are against Clontarf, Shannon and Ballymena.

Shannon, two places ahead of Con, on 27 points, had their game against Blackrock postponed at the last minute and they may well rue that decision as their side was arguably the strongest they’ve managed to field all season.

Garryowen surrendered a 13-7 lead to end up losing by double scores (26-13), against Lansdowne in Dooradoyle. Their first half tries came from Dermot O’Sullivan and Pat Humphreys but they failed to carry that performance into a second half dominated by the visitors who scored three tries.
