Munster Schools Senior Cup Semi final

On Sunday (March 2nd), Presentation Brothers College and Ard Scoil Ris meet in the second Coca-Cola Munster Schools Cup semi final, the winner due to meet CBC

On Sunday, last year’s beaten finalists Presentation Brothers College (Cork), and Ard Scoil Ris from Limerick, will vie for the right to play Christian Brothers College in the final of this year’s Coca-Cola sponsored Munster Senior Cup.

PBC go into this game as underdogs having already lost to Ard Scoil twice this year in friendlies, but it’a a tag that sits comfortably with the Cork school according to gamesmaster Damien Philpot. “They’ve beaten us already so we know we’ll have to play out of our skins on Sunday. We’ll have to match them up front to have any chance and it’ll need a complete team performance if we are to win this one.”

PBC suffered the disappointment of a final defeat last year, and this time around they’ll have the experience of full-back David Kingston, centre Tom Gleeson and flanker Ruairi Geoghegan, who were all involved last year, to help them against the favourites. Geoghegan captains the side, as he does the provincial team and he will be hoping to reach another final and make amends for last year.

Scrum-half David O’Leary is a player who may enjoy the occasion more than most. He missed last year’s campaign with a cruciate ligament injury and the son of coach Ian O’Leary will play a crucial role in the outcome of Sunday’s game.
