All the damage was done in the opening half when Connacht built up a 16-3 half time lead. Gearoid Lyons kicked a penalty for Munster.
A try by captain Jack O'Donoghue and converted by Lyons closed the gap to six points but Munster were unable to penetrate the Connacht defence for another score.
