The club have been at the forefront of the women’s league since it began in 2001 and have been well represented at provincial and international level throughout the years. This year is no exception, with nine players included in the Munster squad, which was captained by the club’s No. 8, Joy Neville.
Ireland’s hugely successful Six Nations campaign was led by UL Bohemian Prop, Fiona Coghlan, with fellow team mates, Niamh Kavanagh, Niamh Briggs and Gillian Bourke also included in the squad.
With the inclusion of Sevens Rugby in the 2016 Olympic Games, there has been a steady rise in its popularity. The club have seven players involved in the Ireland Women’s Sevens Team who begin their campaign for qualification to the 2013 World Championships in June. Jeanette Feighery, Ashling Hutchings, Niamh Kavanagh, Joy Neville, Claire Keohane and Mollie O’ Donnell will all hope to secure a top two finish at the qualifying tournament in Belgium in order to progress to the final European qualifying tournament in Moscow from June 28th – July 1st.
