IRFU Conditioning Programme
5 May 2007, 8:22 am
The IRFU is now taking bookings for the 5th Year of the Conditioning Programme where coaches have the opportunity to become a Certified Conditioning Coach (CCC).
The course is intended to help you gain the confidence and competence to condition and prepare the players in your charge in a safe and enjoyable manner for the game of Rugby. The course is part of a process in which the participant will be offered ongoing support over a three year period through club and school visits and access to a network of certified conditioning coaches.

The Conditioning Programme is a practical hands-on course where you will see and practice the many drills and exercises that are appropriate for conditioning Rugby players at all levels. More learning will occur as you return to your club or school and continue the process. Also through regular participation on any of the programme provincial seminars you will keep up to date with the ever changing approach to conditioning players.

Course Material
You will be supplied with a manual of the content delivered at each module. The June week will cover key modules including Demands of the Game, Principles of Training and Strength and Conditioning both in the gym and on the field.

In order to complete the Certified Conditioning Coach (CCC) Course each coach must fulfil all of the requirements below:

1. Attend week-long course during June and 1 seminar during the year following the week course.
2. Submit completed Multiple-choice paper
3. Submit recognised First Aid Certification
4. Complete 2 site visits during the season with your squad
5. Submit Periodised training programme to include a season planner
6. Complete a Functional Screen on an unknown player

Once again, due to the increased demand for places this year, the IRFU will run two courses, one in Jordanstown and one in Limerick. The dates are as follows:

University of Ulster, Jordanstown, June 18th-22nd 2007
University of Limerick, Limerick, June 25th-29th 2007

Details of the week's timetable will be sent to you nearer the date.
