Young Munster Advance in Bank Of Ireland Munster Senior Cup

Young Munster 25, Thomond 6.
An impressive performance under the lights at Tom Clifford Park, saw Young Munster win their opening game in the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup and will now face the winners of next week’s clash between U.L. Bohemian and Cashel in the last eight.

John Lillis kicked Thomond into an early lead with a penalty after six minutes.

The home side responded with a penalty try which David O’Mahony converted.

Lillis kept Thomond in touch with his second penalty.

A quickly taken tap penalty saw Diarmaid McCarthy race away for a great solo try.

A David O’Mahony penalty made it 15-6 at half time.

Tries from Daragh O’Neill and James O’Connor for Young Munster in the third quarter put the game beyond Thomond.
