Weekend Rugby Roundup

Bottom side Galbally caused the shock of the weekend when they ended Kilfeacle’s unbeaten start in Division 1 of the Munster Junior League.

Galbally who were pointless going into this game led 21-12 at half time with two tries from Sean Bourke and one by Michael Donovan all converted by Jack O’Mullane to tries by Kevin Kinnane and Dermot Carr and a Shane Looby conversion.

Oisin Walsh scored a fourth try to clinch the bonus point for Galbally and O’Mullane kicked a penalty. Kinnane scored a second try for Kilfeacle and Looby converted.

Both Clonmel and Richmond recorded bonus point home wins to remain joint leaders.

Clonmel defeated Waterpark 43-5. The Tipperary side led 19-0 at half time with two tries from Darren Cass and David Lonergan one with Conor Cooney converting two.

John Gallagher, Billy O’Kane, Dylan Cadogan and Gregg Carroll added second half tries and Cooney and Cadogan each kicked a conversion. Shane Burke was Waterpark’s try scorer.

Richmond defeated Skibbereen 45-8 with three tries from Michael Kelleher. Stephen Collins scored two, Finbar Hogan and Keelan Stephenson also got a try each. Brian Mullins kicked five conversions. Kieran Shannon replied with a try for Skibb’ and David Shannon kicked a penalty.

Clonakilty defeated Muskerry 32-0 at The Vale to move into the top half of the table and record their first win of the campaign.
Eoin O’Neill, Declan White, Mark Purcell and Rob Howick were try scorers for Clonakilty. Joe Lee and Alfie Harte each kicked a penalty and a conversion. Howick converted his own try.

Abbeyfeale defeated Thurles 25-8 and are now the new leaders in the Second Division.
Stephen Cahill scored a try, conversion and a penalty for the winners. Kieran McCarthy, Philip Collins and Philip Daly were Abbeyfeale’s other try scorers.

In the only other game in this Division Castleisland defeated pointless Ennis 42-6 to record their first win of the campaign. Matthew Ahern scored two tries for the Kerry side and Shane Brosnan, Connie Reynolds, Denis Reidy and Sean Nolan also added tries. Willie Casey converted all six tries.

Corca Dhuibhne have gone top of the Third Division after their 25-5 away win over Carrick-on-Suir. Ciaran O’Coileain scored two tries for the Gaeltacht side and Shane Griffin and Cathal Begley also got tries. Griffin kicked a penalty and a conversion. James Rooney scored a try for Carrick’ and Dara O’Leary added a penalty.

Youghal began their Division Three campaign with a 43-12 home win over Scariff. Daniel Mulcahy, Brendan Mackey, Scott O’Sullivan, Aaron Daly (2), Keith McCarthy and Alan Frahill-O’Connor were Youghal’s try scorers. McCarthy kicked four conversions. Darren McNamara and Rod Lesley replied with tries for Scariff and Ger Burke kicked a conversion.

Killarney defeated Bantry Bay 30-15 to earn a bonus point victory with a last minute try from Michael Sheahan. Peter Kelly, Brian O’Sullivan and Ger Allman also scored tries for Killarney and Sheahan added two penalties and two conversions.
Bantry Bay replied with tries from Ian Hurley and Sean O’Shea and O’Shea kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Thomond defeated Presentation 16-10 in the Gleeson League. James Casey scored Presentation’s try and Shane O’Brien kicked a conversion and a penalty.
