Weekend Rugby Preview

Despite the big Heineken Cup game in Toulon, there is plenty of action on the Domestic front with five Munster sides involved in AIL action and a full program of games in the Munster Junior League.

U.C.C. travel to Crowley Park to face Galwegians in a bottom of the table clash in Division 1B of the All Ireland League. The Cork students can ease their relegation worries with a victory.

In Division 2 Old Crescent travel to an in form UCD side at Belfield but must try to get something from this encounter if they are to avoid a relegation play off.

All three Munster Third Division sides are in action, Nenagh Ormond after a great victory last week at home to Wanderers will hope to follow it up with another home win when they entertain Ards.
Sunday’s Well face a difficult task away to Instonians. The Belfast side lost their place at the top of the table last week because this game was postponed and they will be eager to regain that slot with a victory.
Highfield can move ahead of their city rivals with a home victory over NUMI Barnhall.

In Division One of the Munster Junior League leaders Cashel face a difficult test when they travel to Skibbereen. They currently hold a three point advantage over their main challengers Richmond. Skibbereen are on a good run at the moment that has seen them move up to the top half of the table. With home advantage they could make things difficult for the Tipperary side, but the visitors experience should see them at least get a victory.
Defending champions Richmond travel to struggling St. Senan’s and boosted by that fine performance against Crosshaven last Sunday, the Limerick side will be hoping to collect maximum points from this encounter.
Third placed Clanwilliam who are twelve points behind the leaders travel to Waterpark confident that they can pick up the points against a young home side.
The two sides sharing fourth place Crosshaven and Kilfeacle meet at Myrtleville with the home side hoping to bounce back to winning ways after last week’s disappointing defeat.
Old Christians who will also be looking for a top five finish to get them entry into next season’s All Ireland Junior Cup will fancy their chances at home to an injury hit Cobh Pirates side.
Bottom side Ballincollig travel to Thurles the side just above them in the table and another defeat for the Cork side would make their task of staying in the top flight a difficult proposition.
Clonmel boosted by that home win over Cobh Pirates last week are away to Tralee on next Saturday and will do well to get something from this encounter.

In Division Two leaders Newcastle West travel to promotion chasing Castleisland and the Kerry side cannot afford to slip up again if they are to remain in the promotion race.
Galbally who are unbeaten and lying in second place with games in hand should pick up the points at home against bottom side Bandon.
St. Mary’s
who are level on points with Galbally will fancy their chances of another victory at home to Youghal.
Promotion chasing Kanturk disappointed after their narrow Cup defeat by Shannon last week will fancy their chances of picking up the points when they travel to Kinsale.
Mallow
will fancy their chances of a victory away to Charleville to keep their faint hopes of promotion alive.
Likewise Killarney must take the spoils when they entertain Muskerry.
Newport
who are battling to avoid relegation must collect points at home to Ennis.

Third Division leaders Presentation should hold on to top spot with a home win over Dungarvan.
Scariff in second place are away to Corca Dhuibhne and this is a game the Kerry Gaeltacht side must win to keep their promotion chances alive. This game also doubles up as a Munster Junior Cup tie.
Fermoy in third place must maintain their challenge with an away win over Abbeyfeale. The West Limerick side boosted by their Cup victory last week over Presentation can still get back in the promotion race with a win.
Waterford City are at home to Carrick-on-Suir and both sides need the points to keep in touch with the sides above them.
Douglas are at home to Bantry Bay and after a few good results in recent weeks Douglas will fancy their chances of recording another victory.
Bottom side Shandon will fancy their chances at home against Killorglin.
