Weekend Preview And Fixtures

A big weekend in the Munster Junior League this weekend with the final series of games in Division 1 of the Munster Junior League down for decision but not all issues at the top and bottom maybe decided because of outstanding games.

There are two games featuring Munster Clubs in the Ulster Bank All Ireland League on Sunday. In Division 1B Shannon face a tricky task as they entertain second-placed Corinthians at Coonagh. The Galway side recorded a 30-16 home win when these sides met at Corinthian Park in October.

Bruff remain rooted to the foot of Division 2A and they travel to Killiney to take on fellow strugglers Seapoint and must win to keep their hopes alive of avoiding the drop.

In Division 1 of the Munster Junior League leaders Kanturk can take another step closer to the title as they will be looking to claim maximum points from their home meeting with Muskerry, who have recently been assured of top flight rugby for next season.

Second-placed St Mary’s will also be seeking maximum points from their home meeting with Newcastle West, who remain in third place after collecting a losing bonus point from last week’s home defeat by Tralee.

The four sides propping up the table will have their work cut out as they all have away games.

Former AIL side Waterpark make the long trip to the Kingdom to take on Tralee and ‘Park are in grave danger of dropping a division with only one win in the current campaign.

Bottom side Mallow take on Old Christians at Rathcooney and Galbally are away to Clonmel.

Skibbereen travel to East Cork to take on Cobh Pirates and the only mid-table clash sees Clonakilty travelling to the Premier County to take on Kilfeacle.

In Division 2 Kinsale will be looking to take another step closer to promotion as they travel to Suirside to take on Waterford City at Kilbarry.

Struggling Killorglin will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in their bid to avoid a quick return to Division 3 as they entertain Youghal at the Kerry venue.

Killarney are at home to bottom side Newport and the Kingdom side should have little difficulty in seeing off ‘Port as they recently defeated the same opposition 19-3 in the Munster Junior Clubs’ Challenge Shield at the Tipperary venue.

The two sides chasing promotion form Division 3 have away ties as leaders Ballincollig play Douglas in a local derby at Moneygourney and fellow promotion chasers Abbeyfeale should have little difficulty in seeing off the challenge of bottom side Dunmanway-Bantry Bay in West Cork.

The only other game sees Fermoy locking horns with North Cork neighbours Charleville at the Showgrounds with nothing more than local pride at stake.
