Weekend Preview And Fixtures

It is league action this weekend with big games in the Ulster Bank League and Munster Junior League.

In Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League Dolphin face a tricky task as they travel to the Capital to take on leaders Clontarf at Castle Avenue. The Dublin side recorded a 21-15 win when these sides met on Leeside in October.

Cork Constitution are in third place and they welcome second-placed Old Belvedere to Temple Hill with nine points separating these sides who played out a 3-3 draw at Anglesea Road earlier in the season.

Garryowen take on UCD at Belfield and the Limerick side hoping to continue their recent revival will have their work cut out as the Students ran out 25-11 winners when these sides met at Dooradoyle.

Young Munster are at home to defending Champions Lansdowne and ‘Munsters will be looking to make the most of home advantage count as they aim to avenge last October’s 29-22 defeat at the Aviva Stadium.

UL Bohemian are away to struggling Dublin University in Division 1B and the Limerick side will be looking to make it two wins out of two as they defeated Trinity on a 16-13 scoreline at Annacotty in November.

Shannon entertain third-placed Buccaneers at Coonagh and the Parish side will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in a bid to avenge November’s narrow 25-22 defeat when these sides met in Athlone.

In Division 2A UCC will be looking to keep their slim outside promotion aspirations on track as they lock horns with promotion chasing Queen’s University in Belfast.

Cashel entertain Old Wesley in a mid-table encounter at the Spafield and Highfield take on Bruff in a basement clash at Woodleigh Park.

Struggling Old Crescent make the long trip to County Down to take on Banbridge.

Division 2B leaders Nenagh Ormond will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run as they welcome fourth-placed City of Armagh to New Ormond Park.

Third-placed Thomond are away to Ards and struggling Midleton entertain Greystones at Towns Park.

Sunday’s Well will be looking to bounce back after their heavy defeat by Skerries as they take on mid-table side Navan at Musgrave Park and Richmond are at home to struggling Instonians.

The Munster Junior League resumes with a full series of games across all three divisions.

In Division 1 leaders Kanturk will be looking to bounce back from last week’s Junior Cup defeat against Highfield as they travel to County Limerick to take on struggling Galbally.

Bottom side Mallow, who are propping up the table will have their work cut out as they entertain second-placed St Mary’s at the North Cork venue.

Newcastle West will be aiming to remain in third place as they take on Tralee at the West Limerick venue.

Skibbereen are hovering above the drop zone and they face a tricky task as they welcome Clonmel to the Carbery Showgrounds.

Waterpark will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in a bid to avoid the drop as they take on Cobh Pirates at Ballinakill and the other former AIL side Clonakilty are at home to Old Christians in a mid-table encounter.

Division 2 table toppers St Senan’s are at home to Clanwilliam and their nearest challengers Kinsale are at home to struggling Ennis.

Bandon will be looking to keep their outside chances of a return to the top flight intact as they entertain Youghal at Old Chapel.

Fourth-placed Thurles are away to bottom side Newport in a Tipperary derby and Killarney will be looking to build on their Junior Cup victory over Sunday’s Well as they take on near neighbours Castleisland in a Kingdom derby.

Presentation welcome Waterford City to Rathuard in a mid-table encounter.

Division 3 leaders Abbeyfeale will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat by County Limerick neighbours Galbally in the Junior Cup as they take on third-placed Carrick-on-Suir at the West Limerick venue.

Second-placed Ballincollig should have little difficulty in seeing off bottom side Dunmanway-Bantry Bay, who are still without a win.

Douglas will be looking to make the most of home advantage as they take on Dungarvan at Moneygourney and South Cork neighbours Carrigaline are at home to Fermoy.
