Weekend Preview And Fixtures

A full series of games in the Ulster Bank League and the Munster Junior Cup that dominates the weekend’s program.

In Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League, the two Cork sides are in the Capital as fourth-placed Cork Constitution lock horns with Lansdowne on the main pitch at the Aviva Stadium. The Lilywhites ran out 33-16 winners when these sides met at Temple Hill in October.

Dolphin will be aiming to get back to winning ways and make it two wins out of two as they take on St Mary’s College at Templeville Road. The Cork Club ran out 15-10 winners when these sides met at Musgrave Park.

Garryowen, who are propping up the table, will have their work cut out as they entertain second-placed Clontarf at Dooradoyle. The Dublin side recorded a comprehensive 33-3 victory when these sides met at Castle Avenue in October, but Garryowen will be fighting for their lives to get something from this encounter.

Young Munster make the long trip to County Down to take on struggling Ballynahinch and they will be looking to make it two wins from two as they defeated the Ulster side on a 29-16 scoreline at Tom Clifford Park earlier in the season.

Shannon entertain Division 1B leaders Terenure College, who are already promoted, at Coonagh. The Dublin side will be aiming to collect maximum points to be crowned champions and they defeated the Limerick side 25-17 at Lakelands Park in November.

UL Bohemian are away to second-placed Corinthians and the Galway side, who are chasing promotion, recorded a narrow 13-10 win at Annacotty earlier in the season.

In Division 2A, Bruff are already relegated and they entertain promotion chasing UCC at Kilballyowen Park, with the Students aiming to collect maximum points in a bid to keep their slim outside promotion hopes intact.

Old Crescent are in grave danger of being relegated with their County Limerick neighbours and they will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in their bid to avoid the drop as they welcome Cashel to Rosbrien.

Struggling Highfield are away to Naas in a basement clash and the losers of this tie look certainties to contest the relegation play-off.

Leaders Nenagh Ormond will be aiming to collect maximum points from their home tie with bottom side Suttonians in Division 2B to clinch promotion and fellow promotion contenders Thomond, who are in a three-way tie for second place with Skerries and Greystones are at home to Midleton.

Richmond travel to North Dublin to play second-placed Skerries and Sunday’s Well go head to head with Boyne in a mid-table clash in Drogheda.

Newly crowned Munster Junior League champions Kanturk begin their All Ireland League qualifying campaign with an away tie against Connacht representatives OLBC at the Galway Sportsground. This will be followed by home ties against Leinster champions and former AIL side Wanderers and Ulster champions Clogher Valley.

The Munster Junior Cup continues with two ties in the Northern Section and eight games in the Southern Section.

Holders Garryowen continue their defence of the trophy with a home tie against Thurles and the winners will be at home to the winners of the other tie between Nenagh Ormond and St Senan’s.

Last year’s finalists Cork Constitution are at home to Tralee and the winners will be at home to Clonmel or Highfield, who go head to head at the South Tipperary venue.

Dolphin are at home to Killorglin and the winners will have home advantage against Cashel in Round 2.

Killarney welcome UCC to the Kingdom and Old Christians travel to Suirside to take on Waterford City at Kilbarry.

There are three Cork derbies down for decision as Youghal take on Skibbereen at the East Cork venue, Kinsale are at home to Muskerry and Midleton play Clonakilty at Towns Park.

Martin O’Sullivan Cup holders Abbeyfeale begin their defence of the trophy with an away tie against Carrick-on-Suir. This is the second meeting of these sides in the space of three weeks as Abbey’ put up 22 points without reply when these sides met in the League at the West Limerick venue.
