Weekend Preview And Fixtures

It is the Charity Cups in Cork and Limerick that dominate the weekend’s Senior rugby as the Division 1 sides in the Ulster Bank League put the finishing touches before the League commences next weekend.

The semi-finals of the Cork Charity Cup are down for decision as Dolphin and Sunday’s Well go head to head at Musgrave Park on Friday evening.

Holders Cork Constitution continues their defence of the trophy on Saturday with a home tie against an impressive young Highfield side that easily brushed aside the challenge of Midleton last week.

The quarter-finals of the Limerick Charity Cup get under way on Friday evening as Old Crescent welcome Nenagh Ormond to Rosbrien and UL Bohemian, fresh from their victory over Young Munster last week, entertain Thomond at Annacotty.

Garryowen are away to Bruff on Saturday and Richmond face a daunting task at home to Shannon.

The Mansergh Cup continues as Clanwilliam and Kilfeacle lock horns in the local derby at Clanwilliam Park.

Fethard play their first competitive match at Junior level as they welcome Galbally to the South Tipperary venue and Cashel are at home to Waterford City.

The Transfield Cup kicks off this weekend with three Limerick City derbies. On Sunday Old Crescent take on Presentation at Rosbrien and UL Bohemian are at home to Garryowen. Richmond entertain Young Munster on Monday evening.

Shannon travel to the Banner County to take on St Senan’s and St Mary’s are away to Bruff.

There is a full programme of games in the opening round of the Dennehy Cup in South Munster and the Shane Geoghegan Tournament is also taking place at Dooradoyle on Saturday.
