Weekend Preview

Weather permitting there is plenty of action listed this weekend with action in the Ulster Bank League and Munster Junior League.

On Saturday in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League, Young Munster travel to Galway to take on struggling Galwegians at Crowley Park.

Garryowen will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in a bid to keep their outside title challenge on track as they entertain second-placed Clontarf at Dooradoyle.

Struggling Cork Constitution travel to the Capital to take on Terenure College at Lakelands Park.

In Division 1B Dolphin go head to head with Blackrock College at Stradbrook. The Leeside Club will have their work cut out if they are to record their second win over ‘Rock as they ran out 17-15 winners at Irish Independent Park shortly before Christmas.
Struggling UL Bohemian lock horns with sixth-placed Buccaneers at Dubarry Park. This will be a tricky assignment for the Limerick side who ran out 20-13 winners when these sides met at the 4G UL Arena.

Shannon welcome promotion chasing Dublin University to Thomond Park. The Limerick side, who are in mid-table, will be looking to avenge their recent 36-11 defeat when these sides met at College Park.

The only game in Division 2A sees Nenagh Ormond taking on Naas at New Ormond Park in a game that was postponed before Christmas. The home side will be aiming to make it two wins out of two as they defeated the Kildare side 10-7 at Forenaughts in early December.

In Division 2B, third-placed Highfield travel to County Kildare to take on struggling MU Barnhall in a rescheduled game.

Kanturk’s home game with Midleton in Division 2C and the U.C.C. v Old Crescent Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup tie have both being postponed.
The fourth quarter final of the Cyril Fitzgerald Plate sees Thomond taking on Cashel at Liam Fitzgerald Park and the winners will be rewarded with a home tie against holders Sunday’s Well in the semi-finals.

In the Munster Junior League, defending champions Clonmel will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run in Division 1 as they entertain Clanwilliam in a Tipperary derby.

Richmond face a tricky task in their bid to reclaim second place as they travel to the Banner County to take on sixth-placed St Senan’s.

Clonakilty, who are second from bottom, will have their work cut out as they take on Newcastle West at the Vale.

Skibbereen, who are hovering above the drop zone face a tough assignment as they travel to County Limerick to take on Galbally.

Waterpark and Muskerry go head to head in a basement clash at Ballinakill.

Newport will be aiming to make the most of home advantage count in their bid to take another step closer to safety in Division 2 as they host Ballincollig and this game has been switched to the UL grounds.

Mallow, who are still without a win face a tricky task as they take on Castleisland at St Joseph’s Road.

Charleville are at home to Presentation in a mid-table clash.

Crosshaven, who are second in Division 3, will be aiming to keep their promotion challenge on track as they travel to East Clare to take on bottom side Scariff.

The three Kerry sides are tied on 11 points apiece. Killorglin and Killarney will be expected to claim points from their respective home ties against basement sides Bantry Bay and Carrick-on-Suir, while Chorca Dhuibhne are away to Douglas-Carrigaline.

The only knock-out game involving Junior Clubs sees Old Christians going head to head with Kanturk in the quarter finals of the County Cup at Rathcooney. The winners will have a home semi-final tie with Cobh Pirates.
