Weekend Preview

There is more Cup action this weekend as Clubs continue their preparations for their upcoming league campaigns.

The second semi final of the Limerick Charity Cup sees Old Crescent taking on Garryowen at Rosbrien on Thursday evening, with the winners meeting Young Munster in the decider. Old Crescent had a surprising win over Shannon in the opening round while this will be Garryowen’s first competitive game of the season.

The Transfield Cup continues with three quarter finals down for decision on Sunday.
Holders Newcastle West begin their defence of the trophy with a home tie against Old Crescent and the winners will be away to UL Bohemian or Shannon in the semi finals.
Bruff and Richmond go head to head at Kilballyowen Park and the winners will be rewarded with a home tie against either Thomond or St. Mary’s.


Ballincollig and Crosshaven get proceedings underway in the O’Neill Cup at Tanner Park and the winners will be away to Youghal in the quarter finals.


Clonmel entertain Waterpark in the first round of the Garryowen Cup at the South Tipperary venue this evening and the winners will be at home to Kilfeacle in the quarter finals.

The first quarter final sees Cashel taking on near neighbours Thurles at the Spafield and the winners will be away to Waterford City or Clanwilliam, who lock horns at Kilbarry on Sunday.

Nenagh Ormond welcome Galbally to New Ormond Park on Sunday.


In Kerry the McElligott Cup gets underway as Iveragh entertain Killorglin in Cahirciveen and Corca Dhuibhne take on Castleisland at Ballydavid.


The Dennehy Cup gets underway as Old Christians and Clonakilty get the show on the road at Rathcooney on Thursday evening and Highfield open their defence of the trophy against Dolphin at Irish Independent Park in one of five games on Sunday.
