Weekend Preview

The All Ireland League gets underway this weekend with a full programme of games across all Five Divisions. This season each Division consists of ten teams who will play each other home and away.

Young Munster get the show on the road as they travel to the Capital to take on defending Division 1A champions Lansdowne at the Aviva Stadium.

Limerick neighbours Garryowen mark their return to the top flight after a one-year absence with a home tie against Ballynahinch.

Elsewhere in Division 1A, Cork Constitution are away to newly promoted Galwegians.

In Division 1B relegated Dolphin are away to St Mary’s College and Shannon travel to Athlone to take on Buccaneers, while UL Bohemian welcome Old Wesley to Thomond Park.

Thomond and Cashel go head to head at Liam Fitzgerald Park in Division 2A.

In Division 2B Highfield are away to Bective Rangers and Sunday’s Well welcome Greystones to Irish Independent Park.

In the new Division 2C Midleton travel to Drogheda to take on Boyne and Bruff are also in action in County Louth as they lock horns with Dundalk in a game that marks the home side’s AIL debut.

Kanturk are at home to Wanderers and Old Crescent travel to the Faithful County to take on Tullamore.

There are two County Cup quarter finals down for decision as Cobh Pirates take on Clonakilty at the Paddocks with the winners away to Old Christians or Kanturk in the semi finals.

Muskerry entertain Bandon at Ballyanly and the winners will have a home tie in the semi finals against Skibbereen or Midleton.

In the first quarter final of the O’Neill Cup Charleville lock horns with Douglas-Carrigaline at Smith’s Road and the winners will be at home to Bantry Bay or Fermoy in the semi finals.

The Transfield Cup semi finals are down for decision as Richmond take on Thomond at Richmond Park and UL Bohemian meet Old Crescent at Annacotty.

There are three games listed in the McInerney Cup with St. Mary’s playing Garryowen on Friday night and on Saturday Old Crescent entertain Presentation at Rosbrien and Young Munster host Richmond.

The Dennehy Cup continues and the Muskerry Cup gets underway as holders Mitchelstown begin the defence of their title against Crosshaven at the South Cork venue.
