Weekend Junior Rugby Round-Up

Clonmel were crowned Munster Junior League champions for the first time, as three more Senior clubs made their exit from the Munster Junior Cup.

History was made at Clonmel when after several attempts to win the Junior League34-7 win over Cobh Pirates to claim the trophy for the first time.

Two tries from Luke Hogan and one by Morgan Lyons together with two conversions by Conor Cooney gave Clonmel a 19-0 half time lead. Further tries from Neville Melbourne, Darragh Foley and Billy O’Kelly extended their advantage to 34-0 before Greg Higgins replied with a try and conversion for Cobh.

At the other end of the table both Old Christians and Galbally secured their place in the top flight for another season.

Old Christians travelled to Skibbereen and came away with a 23-17 victory.
