Weekend Club Preview

It is another relatively quiet weekend with a handful of games across League and knock-out competitions at both Senior and Junior levels.

There are two rescheduled Ulster Bank All Ireland League games down for decision.

In Division 1B Dolphin, who are second from bottom lock horns with Blackrock College who are hovering above the drop zone at Irish Independent Park.

UCC are at home to struggling Thomond in Division 2A.

There are two Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup quarter finals down for decision as Young Munster and UL Bohemian go head to head in a Limerick derby at Tom Clifford Park on Friday evening. The winners will be away to UCC or Old Crescent in the semi-finals.

Holders Cork Constitution continue their bid for four-in-a-row as they entertain Garryowen, who they defeated in the last two finals, at Temple Hill on Saturday. The winners will be rewarded with a home semi-final against Nenagh Ormond or Dolphin.

The Cyril Fitzgerald Plate gets underway with three quarter final ties down for decision.

Highfield host last year’s finalists Shannon and the winners will have a home semi-final against Bruff or Midleton who face off at Kilballyowen Park.

Holders Sunday’s Well begin their defence of the trophy away to Kanturk. The winners will be away to Cashel or Thomond, who are due to meet at a later date in the semi-finals.

In Division 1 of the Munster Junior League, Muskerry will be looking to make the most of home advantage count as they aim to grind out a valuable win in their bid to climb to mid-table safety as they welcome fellow strugglers Waterpark to Ballyanly.

Third-placed Kinsale travel to North Cork to take on Charleville in Division 2. The South Cork side will be expected to claim all points on offer in their quest to return to the top flight at the first attempt.

Bottom side Dungarvan are away to Newport in a basement clash, with the Tipperary side expected to claim maximum points and record their second win of the campaign as they aim to take another step closer to safety.

In the semi-finals of the Junior Club’s Challenge Cup, holders Clonmel take on Richmond at the South Tipperary venue and Galbally travel to the Banner County to take on St Senan’s.

The semi-finals of the Junior Clubs’ Challenge Shield are also down for decision as Mallow take on Abbeyfeale at St Joseph’s Road and Thurles welcome Cobh Pirates to the Premier County.

Crosshaven are away to Bantry Bay in the last remaining quarter final of the Martin O’Sullivan Cup, with the winners meeting Fermoy at the Showgrounds in the semi-final.
