Weekend Club Preview

It’s a big weekend in the Munster Senior Challenge Cup with both semi-finals taking place this Saturday.

Munster Senior Cup holders Cork Constitution continue their bid for three-in-a-row as they entertain Young Munster at Temple Hill.

The defeated finalists of the past two seasons are in action in the other tie as UL Bohemian and Garryowen go head to head on the back pitch in Thomond Park.

There is only one Ulster Bank League tie to be decided and that is in Division 2B, where Bruff make the long trip to the Yeats County to take on fifth-placed Sligo at Hamilton Park in Strandhill. Both sides will want to get back to winning ways after defeats last week.

The semi finals of the Cyril Fitzgerald Plate are also down for decision on Saturday.

Shannon take on Old Crescent in a Limerick derby at Coonagh while Sunday’s Well lock horns with UCC in a Leeside derby at Irish Independent Park.

Munster Junior League Division 2 leaders Bandon welcome Thurles to Old Chapel in the first semi final of the Munster Junior Clubs’ Challenge Shield, with the winners meeting Mallow or Clanwilliam in the decider.

On Sunday Skibbereen travel to the Kingdom to take on struggling Tralee in a rescheduled Junior League Division 1 tie.

The Martin O’Sullivan Cup final is down for decision as Junior League Division 3 leaders Dungarvan take on Charleville at the Showgrounds in Fermoy. The West Waterford side are aiming to win this trophy for the first time while Charleville have won it twice already since it was introduced eleven years ago.

The Muskerry Cup final sees Mitchelstown, who won the trophy two years ago taking on Dolphin at Ballyanly.

Proceedings get underway in the Kelly Cup as holders Bandon begin their defence of the trophy with a first round home tie against Shandon at Old Chapel. The winners will be away to Cobh Pirates in the quarter finals.

Dunmanway take on Kinsale at the West Cork venue in one of two quarter finals. The winners will be rewarded with an away tie against Cobh Pirates, Bandon or Shandon in the last four.

Mallow are at home to Clonakilty in the other quarter final. The winners will be away to Old Christians, Mitchelstown or Muskerry in the semi finals.
