Weekend Club Preview

In a relatively quiet weekend there are only two games in the Ulster Bank All Ireland League featuring Munster Clubs. There are two Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup first round ties down for decision as well as the opening series of games in the Ulster Bank All Ireland Junior Cup.

On Friday evening Ulster Bank League Division 2 leaders Cashel entertain Nenagh Ormond in a Premier County derby at the Spafield, with the home side looking to make it five wins out of five.

Sundays Well take on NUIM Barnhall at Irish Independent Park in a Division 2B tie on Saturday. The home side will be looking to make home advantage count in a bid to climb out of the drop zone.

Cork Constitution begin their defence of the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup against Highfield at Woodleigh Park and the winners will be at home to the winners of the Limerick derby between Shannon and Garryowen, which takes place at Coonagh.

The first round of the Ulster Bank All Ireland Junior Cup gets underway with three Munster sides in action.

Clonmel have received a walk over from Ballinasloe, the second Connacht side to withdraw from this season’s competition.

St Senan’s travel to County Galway to take on Monivea.

Muskerry are away to Monkstown and Newcastle West take on former AIL side Instonians at the West Limerick venue.

Castleisland have a home tie against Killorglin in the McElligott Cup on Saturday night.

There is only one game in Division 1 of the Munster Junior League on Sunday which sees Old Christians aiming to keep their unbeaten run intact as they host bottom side St Mary’s at Rathcooney.

The game of the day in Division 2 sees Cobh Pirates and Waterford City, who are tied on nine points apiece behind leaders Abbeyfeale but with a game in hand, putting their unbeaten records on the line at the Paddocks.

Ballincollig will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in their Cork derby against Kinsale at Tanner Park as they also aim to maintain their promotion challenge.

Charleville take on Tralee at Smith’s Road and Presentation will be expected to maintain their unbeaten run as they welcome struggling Dungarvan to Rathuard.
