Victory For Munster A Schools

The Munster A Schools began the defence of their Interprovincial title with a victory over Connacht A Schools at Musgrave Park.

Both sides are to be complemented on trying to serve up an entertaining game of rugby as both sides tried to play an open game.

Munster had the advantage of the wind in the opening half but full back Dylan Cadogan was off target with a penalty after two minutes from the Twenty Two.

Some excellent passing involving Isaac Daly, David Kavanagh, Andrew Carey, Kerry Desmond and Cadogan came close to producing tries but a solid Connacht defence held firm.

Munster broke the dead lock on eighteen minutes when Cadogan landed a penalty from forty meters.

Munster increased their lead within a minute after loose head prop Toby Adamakin sprinted from the halfway line following a ruck for a try in the corner. Cadogan’s conversion attempt from an awkward angle drifted narrowly wide of the posts

Tom McHale was off target with a penalty for Connacht ten minutes before the break.

Desmond and Adamakin came close to adding to Munster’s tally with some impressive runs, but poor handling at other times prevented the home side from adding to their tally before half time.

Munster continued to take the came to Connacht at the start of the second half and a drive by the pack from a line out saw scrum half Daly held up on the line.

Munster’s pressure was eventually rewarded eleven minutes into the second half when following a quickly taken penalty the ball was spread wide and wing forward Bryan Moore got in for his side’s second try.

Cadogan completed the scoring with a penalty ten minutes from time.

Next up for this Munster side is a home game at Musgrave Park next Wednesday against Leinster.
