U18 Clubs Overcome Leinster

The Munster U18 Clubs side, sponsored by Bank of Ireland, beat Leinster for the first time in eight years at Thomond Park yesterday (Sunday).

Captain Evan O'Gorman, Young Munster. played a leading role and it was his first-half intercept try that gave Munster a 7-3 half-time lead.

Garrryowen out-half Harry Byrne converted the 16th-minute score with Leinster's reply coming from a Frankie O'Dea penalty.

Munster extended their lead on 52 minutes as speedy Ennis RFC winger Ikem Ugwuru raced clear down the right wing for the hosts' second try.

The win was sealed late on as Young Munster full-back Conor Hayes kicked his first penalty to make it 15-3.

Having won 19-14 in Ulster in their first clash of the campaign, Munster travel to the Sportsground on Saturday to face Connacht in a title decider (KO 2.30pm).
