Summer Camps Kick Off

The 2012 Centra Munster Rugby Summer Camps officially got underway this week with over 220 children attending the camps in Highfield, Garryowen and Newcastle West.

A week of fun activity was capped off when each camp received a visit from some of the Munster players. Paul O’Connell and Niall Ronan were in Newcastle West while the Highfield camp welcomed Doug Howlett and Denis Hurley. Garryowen camp attendees were visited by Marcus Horan and Damien Varley.

The players all spent time taking part in the camp activities with the children as well as answering questions and signing plenty of autographs.

The Centra Munster Rugby Summer Camps are available for boys and girls from 6 years old to 13 years old. Each camp takes place over one week (Monday through to Friday inclusive) between 9.30am and 1.30pm. The cost is 85 euro per child. Additional children from the same family can attend for the discounted rate of 75 euro per child.

Please note there is again an online booking facility in place this year. All Summer Camp details are available at www.munsterrugby.ie

Each participant will receive an Official Summer Camp Pack comprising an Adidas Summer Camp T-Shirt, Adidas Shorts, Adidas Socks, Adidas Draw-String Bag, Mouth Guard, one Junior ticket to a Munster pre-season match and a Summer Camp Attendance Certificate.

Central to the Munster Rugby Summer Camps philosophy is ensuring the introduction to the game of Rugby in a safe and controlled manner. The Camps will be managed and run by fully accredited I.R.F.U. Mini Rugby coaches. All Summer Camp staff have undertaken the National Garda Vetting process required to comply with the IRFU policy regarding recruitment and vetting to work in age grade rugby.
