There were away wins for Young Munster and Garryowen in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League as UL Bohemians recorded second bonus point win in Division 1B.

Young Munster collected a valuable 37-15 bonus point win over Cork Constitution at Temple Hill in their Ulster Bank League Division 1A tie.

It was a closely fought opening half which the Cookies led 13-10 at the interval.

A try from Shane Daly and a conversion and a penalty by Tomás Quinlan had the Temple Hill side 10-0 ahead after 20 minutes. Alan Tynan scored a try for the visitors and David O’Mahony kicked a conversion and two penalties to give the visitors a narrow half-time lead.

The Cookies took control of the second half and scored five-pointers from Rob Guerin, Alan Kennedy, Robin Copeland and a penalty try, two of which O’Mahony converted. Con’s only reply was a second try from Daly.

Garryowen bounced back from their opening day defeat with a 13-11 away win over Old Belvedere. A try by Andrew O’Byrne converted by Neil Cronin had the Light Blues 7-5 ahead at half-time. Cronin added two penalties after the break to give the Dooradoyle side the points.

UL Bohemians had an impressive 38-22 win over a fancied Ballynahinch side at Annacotty in Division 1B. They led 18-7 at half-time thanks to tries by James McNamara, Brian Walsh and Robbie Bourke, who also kicked a penalty.

UL Bohemians had a second try from McNamara and two more from James Ryan and Finbarr Ahern in the second half. Bourke converted one of the tries and also landed a penalty.

For the other three Munster sides in this Division there were away defeats.

Old Wesley defeated Dolphin at Donnybrook 21-10. The home side led 18-7 at the break with Barry Fitzgerald getting a try for Dolphin which Barry Keeshan converted and Cillian Monahan kicked a penalty in the second half.

A first-half penalty from Ronan McKenna was Shannon's only score as they lost away to Buccaneers at Dubarry Park 27-3.

Galwegians defeated UCC 31-14 at Crowley Park. Cillian Ansboro was College’s try scorer and Kevin O’Keeffe added three penalties.

In Division 2A Nenagh Ormond have gone top after their 30-14 derby win over Cashel under lights on Friday night at New Ormond Park in their Tipperary derby tie.

Clayton Stewart scored two tries, two penalties and two conversions for the winners and Anthony Grey and Eathon Moloney also scored tries. James Ryan replied with a try for Cashel and Conor Holland kicked two penalties and Ollie McGlinchy one.

Highfield and Malone played out a 3-3 draw at Gibson Park. Paddy O’Toole kicked a first-half penalty for the Cork side.

After a poor opening half, injuries to Eoin Geary and Greg Higgins and three yellow cards cost Sunday’s Well dearly as they lost at home to Blackrock College 33-23 at Irish Independent Park. Mark Chandler and John Moynihan were the try-scorers for the ‘Well. Shane O’Riordan and Chandler each kicked a conversion and Eoin Ryan added two penalties and Chandler one.

A fighting second-half comeback by Old Crescent saw them share the spoils with MU Barnhall at Parsonstown 16-16 in Division 2B. Cathal O’Reilly and Val McDermott were try scorers for Crescent and Shane O’Brien kicked two penalties.

Tries from Dean O’Brien and Dermot Fitzgerald were not enough for Thomond who lost 49-19 at home to Bective Rangers.

Midleton recorded their second bonus point win in Division 2C to go top after their 35-16 away win over Bruff at Kilballyowen Park. Ross O’Mahony scored two tries for the East Cork side and Daniel Murray, Rob Carey and Paul Daly got one each. Stuart Lee converted all five tries. Cillian Rea replied with a try for Bruff and David O’Grady converted and added three penalties.

Kanturk got their first points of the campaign with a 16-12 home win over Seapoint. Stephen McAuliffe and David Fitzpatrick scored tries for Kanturk and Conor Cremin kicked two penalties.
