Pan Munster Youths Round-Up

Following this weekend’s second round of games the first qualifiers for the knock out stages are known after a weekend where several games fell victim to the weather.

In the Under 18 Competition, Tralee put themselves in pole position to qualify from Group 1 when they won their second group game on Saturday against Clanwilliam. The 22-6 victory in O'Dowd Park means a win for the Kerry club in Limerick next weekend will guarantee a home quarter final. Young Munster bounced back from an opening day defeat to Clanwilliam to narrowly defeat Kinsale 20-17.

Highfield beat Galbally as the sides met for the second time in two seasons in the group stage of the Pan Munster Competition in Group 2 with the Woodleigh Park side taking the victory by 19 points to 0.

In the other Group 2 game the much anticipated clash between last season’s Munster Under 17 Champions Clonakilty and semi-finalists Bruff failed to go ahead due to poor weather conditions in the County Limerick venue.

Cork Constitution made it two wins from two in Group 3 when they defeated Old Crescent 13-6 in Temple Hill on Saturday while Cobh Pirates emerged victorious over Nenagh Ormond by a score-line of 15-10.

The Cork city club will look to seal a home quarter final next weekend when they travel up to the winless Nenagh Ormond. Old Crescent and Cobh will battle it out in Rosbrien for the second quarter final place on Sunday.
Waterpark were big winners in Group 4 when they defeated Killarney while Sunday's Well will have to travel to Newcastle West at another time as their clash failed to go ahead due to the weather conditions.

Bantry Bay, in their first year competing in a Pan Munster competition, are one win away from qualifying for the knockout stages in the Under 16 competition following a 10-5 win over Waterpark. Tries from Phillip O Shea and Fionn O Driscoll sealed the win for the away side. Shannon beat Sunday's Well 14-7.
