Narrow Loss For Brave Munster

The Munster U18 Club side finished their interprovincial series with a narrow 10-7 loss to their Leinster counterparts in a hard fought encounter yesterday at Thomond Park.

Leinster claimed the opening score on the 18th minute following a try from left wing Robert Vallejo with place kicker Joey Carbery from Athy adding the extras.

In spite of a fierce Munster defensive effort, referee John Coyle awarded the visitors a penalty in the 61st minute in front of the posts, giving Leinster a 10-0 advantage going into the break.

An impressive injury-time try from right wing Eoin O’Carroll from Tralee, converted by Garryowen’s Fionn McGibney, was not enough for the home side at the full-time whistle.

Munster XV: Dylan Horgan (Highfield), Eoin O’Carroll (Tralee), Cian Tierney (Bruff), Mark Dorgan (Highfield), Joe White (Clonakilty), Fionn McGibney (Garryowen), Ronan O’Halloran (Ennis), Philip Poillot (Clonakity), Stephen Shine (Young Munster), Ben Betts (Young Munster), Darragh Power (Waterpark), Aaron Hogan (Youghal), Alex McCauliffe (Bruff), Luke O’Leary (Sunday’s Well), Idris Rqibi (Capt.)
