My Job In Munster: Euan Gee

Euan Gee is Munster Rugby’s Community Rugby Officer for Limerick.

Born and raised in Aberdeenshire, Euan has played rugby since the age of 10. He represented North of Scotland 16s and 18s as well as Scottish Schools U-16. He studied outdoor education in Glasgow before working as a Club Development Officer for the Scottish Rugby Union.

When did you join Munster?
I joined Munster in 2008 as a Youth Development Officer in the West Limerick region and turned full-time in 2012 in my current role as Community Rugby Officer in Limerick.
""
What do you do?
I’m available for people in Limerick City involved in rugby who might need guidance and support services on a number of rugby-related issues. Support services I provide to clubs, schools and community groups include schools coaching programmes, organisation of school and club festivals and blitzes and the provision of club coaching workshops.

Another part of my job is developing disability rugby in Munster. We already have a number of teams competing on a national basis and there is definitely demand for disability rugby to grow throughout the province.

What is the best part of your job?
Definitely the best part of my job is the variety of work that I have on a daily basis. One day might see me running a national school blitz in Presentation RFC and the next might involve attending a meeting regarding disability rugby in the IRFU head office in Dublin. The variety keeps the job challenging and very interesting.

Most memorable match?
My wife is from Kerry so before I moved to Ireland she had me hooked on Munster. When I finally moved over in 2008, Munster had just won the Heineken Cup. The final against Toulouse is the most memorable match because it was a fantastic achievement for Munster but more so as it marked a hugely positive change in my life in terms of family and career.
