Munster Players Support The Family Literacy Scheme

Munster players Darragh Hurley and James Coughlan recently visited the Frank O’Connor Library, Mayfield, Cork, to promote the "One Book, One Community" family literacy scheme.

Over 50 pupils from local primary schools were in attendance as well as the Lord Mayor of Cork Michael O’Connell, who was delighted with the support from teachers and parents of this very positive initiative.

The “Family Literacy Scheme” has been developed to encourage young people to read books in their own recreational time. Mayfield Community School Principal, Tony Walsh, spoke on the importance of parents also taking the time to read with their children for their own personal development with an added benefit of spending quality family time together.

Former pupil of Mayfield Community School James Coughlan took the opportunity to visit his old school with Munster prop Darragh Hurley. Also present were Women’s Rugby Officer Amanda Greensmith and Domestic Rugby Manager Ultan O’Callaghan.
