Munster Junior League Preview

The final series of games in the Munster Junior League before the Christmas and New Year break takes place this weekend.

Division 1 leaders Clonmel will be expected to maintain their challenge for a fourth successive title as they travel to County Limerick to take on Galbally.

Bragging rights are at stake with local derby action in West Cork and West Limerick.

Skibbereen, who are hovering above the drop zone, face a tough assignment as they host Bandon, who are aiming for a top four finish and qualification for a second successive All Ireland Junior Cup campaign.

Newcastle West, who are two points behind Clonmel, will be expected to get the better of their near neighbours as they host Abbeyfeale.

St Senan’s should have little difficulty in seeing off the challenge of bottom side Old Christians as they aim to maintain their challenge for a top four finish.

Clonakilty, who recorded a surprise maximum point away victory over Richmond in Limerick, will have their work cut out as they welcome Kilfeacle to The Vale.

In other games, Cobh Pirates take on third-placed Clanwilliam at the Paddocks and Richmond travel to Ballyanly to take on Muskerry.

There are two games in Division 2 on Saturday.

Kinsale welcome leaders Waterpark to the South Cork venue and face a tricky task if they are to maintain their recent winning run, which included a surprise victory over pacesetters Youghal last time out.

St. Mary’s should have little difficulty is seeing off the challenge of Charleville at Grove Island. The North Cork side are still without a win but with five bonus points to their credit from their six games.

On Sunday, second-placed Thurles welcome Crosshaven to the Premier County and the home side will be expected to claim all points on offer and end the Seasiders’ promotion bid.

Youghal will be expected to get back to winning ways as they host Castleisland.

Waterford City will be looking to get their outside promotion bid back on track following their recent defeat by Ballincollig as they welcome Ennis to Kilbarry.

Mallow will be hoping to record their first home win as they host Presentation.

Tralee, who are propping up the table and have failed to record a win at home since their relegation from the top flight a year and a half ago, host Ballincollig.

Division 3 leaders Killorglin will be looking to get a result from their trip to West Cork to take on bottom side Bantry Bay.

Fermoy welcome Killarney, who recorded their first win over Chorca Dhuibhne last time out, to the Showgrounds. The home side will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat against Dungarvan in West Waterford and avenge their recent defeat in the Martin O’Sullivan Cup by Killarney.

Douglas-Carrigaline, who were defeated by Killorglin in the Kingdom face a tricky task as they aim to get a result from their home meeting with Dungarvan, who are on ten points.

Fethard make the long trip to West Kerry to take on Chorca Dhuibhne.
