Munster Clubs Ups & Downs

The All Ireland League will draw to a close for the season this week-end with one remaining fixture which sees Shannon travel to Stevenson Park to take on Division 1B bottom placed Dunngannon.

This season sees four Munster senior clubs drop a division which includes the relegation of Munster Senior Cup finalists Garryowen from 1A to 2B.

Highfield’s 14-10 loss to Thomond last Saturday puts them in the 2B division for season 2014/15 where they join fellow relegated Munster clubs Old Crescent and Bruff.

Thomond’s success at Woodleigh Park saw them up a division to 2A joining Nenagh, who were undefeated this season to also earn their well deserved promotion.

Kanturk were rewarded senior club status last Saturday when they overcame Instonians to finish in second place in the All Ireland Junior Clubs play-offs. Next season the North Cork side will compete in the AIL joining their fellow Munster Clubs Richmond, Sunday’s Well, Midleton, Bruff, Old Crescent and Highfield at Division 2B.

The Munster Junior Clubs will also see a shuffle next season including St. Senan’s and Kinsale who finished up first and second in the Junior 1 Division 2 League to claim Division 1 status.

Abbeyfeale and Ballincollig will take their places at Junior 1 Division 2 by claiming the first and second spot in Division 3.

North Cork side Mallow drop down to J1 Division 2 and Killorglin will join them in relegation from J1 Division 2 to Division 3 next season.
