Munchin’s Edge Out Ardscoil In Schools Cup

A second half comeback by St. Munchin’s saw them book a place in the semi finals of the Munster Schools Senior Cup and a meeting with holders Rockwell after a narrow victory over Ardscoil Ris at Annacotty.

Ardscoil enjoyed the better of the exchanges in the opening half and took the lead midway through the half when scrum half Colm Noonan got in for a try for Ardscoil and Robbie Bourke converted.
Munchin’s were back on level terms on the stroke of half time when hooker Peter Meyer touched down and Shane Airey converted to leave it 7-7 at the break.
Ardscoil regained the lead early in the second half when center Ronan McKenna got in for a try. Dan Goggin levelled for Munchin’s with a try and Airey converted to put the Corbally College ahead.
Seven minutes from time skipper Lee Nicholas scored a third try for Munchin’s and from there to the full time whistle Ardscoil never looked like getting back in the contest.
