Limerick Charity Cup Final At Thomond Park Stadium

The 91st holding of the rescheduled Limerick Charity Cup final, supported by sporting Limerick, comes to a climax this Thursday, 21st January with the much anticipated meeting between Young Munster and Old Crescent at Thomond Park Stadium, (kick-off 7.30pm).

Young Munster defeated Nenagh Ormond and UL Bohemian on their path to the final with their opponents Old Crescent overcoming Shannon and Garryowen.

Both clubs are currently enjoying a good season in the All Ireland League which sets the tone for a thrilling match.

Division 1A side Young Munster are currently standing at fifth position in the league following their 14-6 win over Terenure College last Saturday at Clifford Park and will look forward to their local derby evening cup fixture.

Old Crescent top their division at 2C, retaining their lead following an emphatic 54-5 win over Sligo in their weekend league action at Rosbrien.

The competition was originally known as the Hospital Cup introduced in 1924 to raise funds for St. Johns and Barrington Hospitals. The name was later changed to the Limerick Charity Cup to encapsulate other charities. The proceeds of the competition this year will go to Milford Hospice, the IRFU Charitable Trust and the Redemptorist Fathers Christmas Poor Campaign.

Munster Rugby look forward to your valued support of the Limerick Charity Cup and its charities this year, and welcome all support in what promises to be a thrilling final.
