The second Level 1 Coaching Course of the season took place in Colaiste Stiofan Naofa on 13th, 14th and 15th August with 40 Club and School coaches in attendance.

The course was tutored by four of Munster Rugby’s Coach Development Officers John Lacey, Colm McMahon, Noel O’Meara, Keith Murphy and Domestic Rugby Manager Ultan O’Callaghan.

Garrett Fitzgerald, CEO, Munster Rugby was also present on day one and spoke on the importance of coaches in improving player development for the future of Munster Rugby.

Munster Rugby would like to thank guest tutors Brian Hickey, Conor Twomey, Steve Forde, Brian Walsh and Padraig Culbert who presented modules on their respective area of expertise over the three day course.

The contents of the course included subjects such as Principles of Play, Skill Development, Individual Skills, Referee Laws and Unit Skills.

In order to complete their IRFU Level 1 Accreditation, the applicants will go on to attend a Level 1 Link course, log 40 hours of coaching and finally have a coaching session observed by a Munster Rugby Coach Development Officer.
