Junior Rugby Preview & Fixtures Week Ending 24th Oct

Junior Rugby action spills into the Bank Holiday Monday with the Dennehy Cup Final taking place,

This weekend is the third series of games in the Munster Junior League. In Division One, leaders Cashel with maximum points travel to Cobh Pirates and for the Tipperary side’s Coach Ian Dunne it will be back to his old stomping ground and he will hope to put one over on the side that he coached previously.

Crosshaven in second place and also unbeaten will be looking to pick up maximum points at home to St. Senan’s.

Defending champions Richmond disappointed with last weeks draw at home to Kilfeacle travel to Ballincollig in a confident mood of picking up all five points. The home side were well beaten in their opening game at home to Cashel two weeks ago but bounced back in fine style with that dramatic win at Clanwilliam and could at least get a losing bonus point from this encounter.

Waterpark have made a good start with a very young side and they will be aiming to pick up maximum points from their trip to Thurles.

Tralee who lost valuable ground last week after that defeat by Waterpark should get back to winning ways with a home win over Skibbereen who have made a very disappointing start.

Clonmel are at home to Clanwilliam and both need the points as they both do not want to lose contact with the leading clubs.

The other fixture in the top flight is the meeting of Old Christians and Kilfeacle at Rathcooney and both sides will be looking for their first win and the Tipperary side will be boosted by a very fine performance at Richmond last week.

Galbally and Killarney are both the early leaders in Division Two. Galbally will be looking for their third victory when they host Youghal on Saturday evening with a 6.30 kick off.
Newly promoted Killarney have made a great start and last week’s home win over a fancied Kinsale side will give them great confidence ahead of a difficult trip to St. Mary’s.

Kanturk face a derby tie at home to Muskerry and know they must win their home ties if they are to maintain their challenge for promotion.

Newcastle West also must come away from Bandon with the points if they are to be serious promotion challengers.

Mallow will hope to bounce back after their defeat by Newcastle West with a home win over Ennis.

Kinsale after two defeats must win at home to Newport if they are to remain promotion contenders.

Charleville looking for their first points will hope to turn things around at home to Castleisland.

Four sides share top spot in Division 3 and all are away from home. Scariff make the long journey to Bantry and should return home with the spoils.
Abbeyfeale face a difficult task away to Waterford City as do Fermoy who face a rejuvenated Dungarvan side.

Corca Dhuibhne also have it all to do away to Carrick-on-Suir and in the other ties Presentation should get the better of Shandon at Whitechurch and home advantage should see Killorglin edge out Kilrush.
