Plenty of Drama again this week at the top of Division 1 of the Munster Junior League as both the Division 2 and Division 3 Leaders record bonus point wins

Defending champions and current Munster Junior League leaders Clonmel came very close to losing their unbeaten record only for a penalty try converted by Conor Cooney earned them a 14-14 draw at home to Old Christians.
Jeff Hodder put the Rathcooney side ahead with a try on sixteen minutes a lead they held until half time.
A drop goal and a penalty from Sean Meaney extended their advantage to 11-0 after sixty minutes.
Gareth Mulcahy brought Clonmel back into the game with a try under the posts after sixty six minutes and Cooney converted.
Meaney made it 14-7 with a penalty with nine minutes remaining but three minutes later, Clonmel struck for their equalising score.

Richmond who lost for the first time last week away to Clanwilliam, suffered another defeat this week when Bandon staged a dramatic second half revival to win 28-15 at Richmond Park.
Brian Mullins and Richard Walsh exchanged early penalties before three further penalties from Mullins gave the home side a 12-3 interval lead.
Tries from Walsh and Ray Nea put Bandon ahead but Mullins responded with his fifth penalty for a 15-13 lead.
Bandon finished the stronger and tries from Walsh and Kevin Lucey along with a penalty and a conversion by Chris Laidler leaves the West Cork side just a point behind the leaders.

Clanwilliam recorded a 14-13 away win over local rivals Kilfeacle to win the big Tipperary derby. A try and three penalties from Niall Leahy gave Clan’ an 11-6 half time lead. Shane Looby kicked two penalties for the home side. Leahy added a further penalty and Diarmuid O’Donnell replied with a try for Kilfeacle which Looby converted.

Galbally needed a late penalty from Jack O’Mullane to come from behind to defeat Newcastle West 8-6. The visitors led 3-0 at half time. Raymond Forde was Galbally’s try scorer.

Skibbereen won their relegation clash with Waterpark 11-5. Donal Collins was the home side’s try scorer and Denis McCarthy kicked two penalties. David Pierce replied with a try for Waterpark.

The Clonakilty v St Mary’s game was called off because of the unavailability of a referee and the Muskerry v St. Senan’s game was postponed due to an unplayable pitch at Ballyanly.

Abbeyfeale extended their lead at the top of Division Two after their 48-3 home win over Tralee. Derry O’Connor scored two tries for the winners and Kieran McCarthy, John Murphy, Liam McHenry and Dean Enright got one each. Steve Daly kicked five conversions and two penalties and Tom Hassett also added a conversion.

Kinsale moved into second place after their 26-15 away win over Ennis. Aidan McCarthy, Pat O’Regan, Peter Murphy and Timmy Broderick scored tries for Kinsale and Broderick kicked three conversions. Kealan O’Flaherty and Cian Nugent replied with tries for Ennis and O’Flaherty kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Thurles were convincing 78-10 home winners over bottom side Dungarvan to keep their promotion challenge on track. John Lillis scored four tries and seven conversions. Colm Skeehan and Nicky Irwin got two tries each and Ciaran Ryan, Declan Rahelly, Paddy Phelan and Larry O’Gorman one apiece. Maurice Power replied with a try for the visitors and David Hickey converted. Stephen Phelan added a drop goal.

Presentation kept their promotion hopes alive with a 13-8 away win at Castleisland. The visitors led 10-5 at half time with a try from Noel Ford and a conversion and penalty from Craig Airey. Willie Casey scored a try for the home side. Airey and Casey exchanged second half penalties.

A last minute drop goal from Philip O’Brien earned Newport a 6-3 away win over Charleville. Shane O’Sullivan and O’Brien had exchanged penalties earlier.

The referee declared the Waterford City pitch unplayable for their home game with Mallow just before kick off.
The Cobh Pirates v Ballincollig game was also postponed because of an unplayable pitch.

Youghal have extended their lead at the top of Division Three with a 52-3 home win over Carrick-on-Suir in a game that was played under lights on Friday night. Michael Healy scored two tries and Alan Stirling, Alan Frahill-O’Connor, Aaron Daly, Dean Malone, Brendan Mackey and Scot O’Sullivan got one each. Jonathan Ormond added six conversions. James Rooney replied with a penalty for Carrick’.

Crosshaven kept their challenge on track with a 25-0 home win over Chorca Dhuibhne. Michael Lynch scored two tries for the winners and Jordan Fahy one. Ian Smith kicked two penalties and a conversion.

Fermoy kept their slight hopes of promotion alive with a 17-7 away win over Douglas-Carrigaline. All the scoring came in the opening half with Dylan Lacey, Mike Sweeney and Dylan Foley scoring tries for Fermoy and Sweeney added a conversion. John Kidney replied with a try for the home side and Conor O’Regan converted.

Killorglin defeated local rivals Killarney 12-9 in the Kerry derby with two tries from Brian Hayes and a Luke O’Shea conversion. Paudie Sheehan kicked three penalties for the visitors.

Bantry Bay continued their recent good run with a 14-5 away win over bottom side Scariff. Joe Piggott and Sean McCarthy scored tries for Bantry and McCarthy converted both. Ger Burke was Scariff’s try scorer.

Highfield defeated Bruff 20-19 in the Munster Seconds League Play Offs. Colm Gallagher scored two tries for the winners and Colm Connolly one. John Sheehan added a conversion and a penalty.

In the other Play Off game UL Bohemian defeated Shannon 26-7 at Coonagh.

Mitchelstown defeated Highfield 17-0 in the Junior League South with tries from Matt Kavanagh, Sean Myers and Owen Burke. Pat Molloy converted one of the tries.

Mallow defeated Dunmanway 10-5 in the George O’Connell Cup with two tries from winger Michael Healy.

Dungarvan-Youghal were 22-10 home winners against Iveragh. Emmet Curran and Barry O’Shea were try scorers for the Kerry side.
