International Caps For Munster Under 18s

The two Ireland Under 18 squads recently completed their respective 5 Nations and Tri Nations tournaments in the UK and Ireland.

The Ireland Under 18 side, that includes Munster players Daniel Hurley (Crescent College), Tadgh McCarthy (Bantry) and Ronan Coffey (Ardscoil Rís), began their 5 Nations campaign against England in Bristol where they were narrowly defeated 15-12.

Next up was Scotland at Caerphilly, Wales where they claimed a comprehensive 43-0 win.

The side concluded their campaign last Saturday against Italy where they suffered a 22-17 loss.

Munster’s representatives in the Tri Nations side include Dave McCarthy (Skibbereen), Conor Phillips (Crescent College), Jack O’Sullivan (PBC), Diarmuid Barron (Rockwell College) and Jack Daly (Castleisland).

The side opened up their campaign against France in Ashbourne, Co. Meath, claiming a 23-10 win.

Ireland finished the tournament on a high securing two from two wins by overcoming England Counties 21-17 last Saturday, following a last gasp try from PBC backrow Jack O’Sullivan in Ashbourne.

Over the coming weeks the Munster participants will be vying for places in the Munster Under 19 side as they continue to take part in the selection process overseen by Head Coach Noel O’Meara.

The final selection of players will take part in this year’s summer programme as the Under 19 squad prepare to defend their Interprovincial title in the 2016/17 series.
