Four In A Row For Cork Constitution

Cork Constitution claimed their 27th Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup title today at Thomond Park Stadium following a 14-7 win over Young Munster.

Young Munster full-back Paul Downes had two early penalty opportunities to put his side in front however failed to hit the target on both occasions.

Tomás Quinlan made no mistake after the 22nd minute to open the scoreboard for Con putting his side 3-0 in front.

Five minutes later full-back Darren Sweetnam touched down for an excellent try to extend the Cork side's lead 8-0 with Quinlan failing to add the extras.

Following an excellent break from Young Munster, winger Craig O’Hanlon was denied a try on 34 minutes when he was called back for a knock-on earlier in the move.

It was Con to score again with a penalty from Quinlan just on the half time mark to give his side an 11-0 advantage at the break.

Reduced to thirteen men in the second half following two Con sin binnings, Young Munster's pressure paid off on the 25th minute sending Darragh O'Neill over for the Cookies first score converted by Downes.

Young Munster failed to close the gap any further and a Quinlan penalty kick just before the full time whistle guaranteed the Cork side their fourth Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup title in a row.
