Members of the Munster Association of Referees Michael and Emma Cullinane, who hail from Abbeyfeale Rugby Club, will officiate in the Mini Rugby matches and give the next generation of rugby stars their first taste of the famous Thomond Park atmosphere.

Emma is studying for a degree in Psychology in the University of Limerick and has played representative rugby at Munster U18 level. She took up refereeing to stay involved in the game while she focuses on her studies.

Michael who works for Arrow Development took up refereeing seven years ago during a Tag rugby memorial event for a close friend Noel Roche. The enjoyment he got from officiating and the opportunity to stay involved encouraged him to become a full member of the association, and he has enjoyed the intervening years immensely.

Ireland are the current holders of both the Men’s & Women’s 6 Nations championships and this success is now being reflected with more and more female referees progressing through the ranks.

If you would like to find out more information on any of these refereeing paths and would like to contribute to Munster rugby through officiating please contact IRFU Referee Development Manager, Peter Fitzgibbon, through the Munster association of referee’s website www.mar.ie email peter.fitzgibbon@irfu.ie
