Crescent College booked their place in the semi finals of the Munster Schools Junior Cup with a hard earned victory over a gallant Castletroy side at Thomond Park.

In a keenly contested opening half Crescent winger Ben Carew gave his side the lead with a try following great work by the forwards after sixteen minutes.

Castletroy opened their account with a penalty from their out half Sean Madden after twenty one minutes.

Crescent finished the half with a try from center Jamin Hoffman to leave the half time score 10-3 in favour of Crescent.

Crescent defended well after the break as Castletroy tried to reduce the deficit.

Ten minutes from time Cian McDonogh scored Crescent’s third try to make it 15-3.

Five minutes later winger Timothy Duggan scored try number four and skipper John Hurley converted.

On the stroke of full time following a chip ahead Carew won the race to touchdown and Hurley converted to leave the final score 29-3.
