Crescent College Book Semi Final Place

Crescent College Comprehensive will join Glenstal Abbey School and PBC as semi final qualifiers of the SEAT Munster Schools Junior Cup, following a 19-17 victory over CBC today at Rosbrien.

A dramatic finish to the SEAT Munster Schools Junior Cup quarter final as Crescent College Comprehensive had to withstand a late flourish by C.B.C. at Rosbrien before booking their place in the last four.

Leading 19-9 with twelve minutes remaining Crescent looked like they had booked their place in the last four, when disaster struck with Scott Leahy being shown a yelow card. James Taylor kicked a penalty for Christians to leave seven between the sides.

Then Rory McMahon was shown a yellow card and the Cork side rallied when Killian O’Sullivan got in for a try in the corner but Taylor failed with the conversion and Crescent held out for a famous victory.

Christians led 9-7 at half time with Taylor kicking three penalties for the visitors and Daniel Hurley scoring Crescent’s try and Brian Ryan converted.

Three minutes into the second half Jack Henchy scored the Limerick side’s second try and Ryan again converted.

Hurley extended Crescent’s advantage with his second try for a 19-9 lead, before Christians late rally was not enough to keep them in the competition.
