Crescent Claim Their 7th Munster Schools Junior Cup Title

Crescent College Comprehensive claimed their 7th Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Junior Cup title and denied CBC the Senior and Junior Cup double today at Thomond Park Stadium.

Crescent College Comp. 17, C.B.C. 7.

Crescent have ended three successive defeats in The Claytons Hotel Munster Schools Junior Cup Final when at Thomond Park they overcame the holders Christian Brothers College in the replay.

Crescent made the better start and jumped into the lead with a try from Jack Madden in the corner for a 5-0 advantage after four minutes.

Crescent dominated the first quarter but were unable to add to their tally.

Christians managed to left the siege and winger Karl Waterman got over the Crescent line but was held up, however from the resulting scrum, number 8 Conor O’Sullivan got in for a try which Billy Cain converted to leave CBC 7-5 ahead, a lead they held to half time.

In the second half Crescent Captain John Hurley was off target with a penalty but their efforts were rewarded in the forty eight minute when prop Ronan Gallery touched down and Hurley converted to make it 12-7.

Ben Carew who earned Crescent the replay the last day made sure of victory with an injury time try to give Crescent their seventh title.
