Cork Constitution make exit from ODM Financial Munster Senior Cup.

Another major shock in the history of the ODM Financial Munster Senior Cup took place at Kilballyowen Park when Bruff ended the hopes of Cork Constitution in this year’s competition and also a place in the All Ireland Cup.

Bruff who are only in their sixth season as a senior club ended Cork Constitution’s unbeaten run this season and also their All Ireland Cup title with this performance.
A try by Brian Deady after nineteen minutes gave the home side a 5-0 interval lead.
Two Brian Cahill penalties on fifty nine and sixty five minutes extended the home side’s advantage.
In typical Cork con’ style they never gave up and a try by skipper Frank Cogan ten minutes from time ensured a rip roaring finish the County Limerick side held out for one of the most famous victories in this clubs history.

Garryowen 18, U.L. Bohemian 16.
Six penalties from Declan Cusack ensured Garryowen passage to this season’s semi final with a narrow victory over U.L. Bohemian under the lights of Dooradoyle on Friday night.
Cusack gave the Light Blues an early 6-0 lead with two penalties but three penalties from Aidan McNulty had the sides level 9-9 at the interval.
Cusack edged Garryowen in front again six minutes into the second half.
Then a brilliant try by Barry Murphy after nine minutes which McNulty
converted put the visitors ahead.
A sixty sixth minute penalty by Cusack left only a point between the sides until Cusack struck with a late winner.
In the late stages the ball became very slippery due to the rain and in a helter skelter period of five additional minutes UL Bohemian never looked like getting back in front.

Midleton 13, Dolphin 41.
Dolphin cruised into the semi finals with a second half blitz at the Towns Park which saw them score four second half tries to run out easy winners.
In a closely fought first half the visitors led 15-10 at the interval with tries from Rory Geoghan and Harry Fleming and a conversion and penalty from Barry Keeshan.
Substitute Rob Barry scored a try for Midleton and Jeff Hitchmough converted and also added a penalty.
Fleming added two further tries after the break and Gary O’Keeffe and John quill got one each with Keeshan adding three conversions. Midleton’s only reply was a penalty by Hitchmough.

Highfield 20, Clonakilty 8.
A clinical performance by Highfield at Woodleigh Park saw the home side continue their good run with a fourth successive victory.
Clonakilty dominated this game for long periods but found it hard to find a gap in the home defence and only got in for a try in the final minute when Mike O’Hea touched down but by than the game was beyond Clonakilty.
Highfield raced into an early 10-0 lead with a try from James Sheehan and a conversion and penalty by Colin Mahony. Dave Paurini did open the visitors account with a penalty mid way through the half and a penalty from Mahony on the stroke of half time left it 13-3 in favour of Highfield.
Clonakilty dominated the second half but solid defending by the home side kept their line in tact and limited the visitors to two penalty attempts which both went wide of the posts.
In their first attack of the second half six minutes from time Dave Walker went in for a Highfield try and Mahony converted to confirm their place in the last four.
