Coaching Courses Update

The Munster Rugby Coach Development Department held a very successful Mini Coaching Course in IT Tralee last weekend.

32 coaches from from Killarney, Killorglin, Listowel, Tralee, Castleisland, Kanturk, Ennis, Midleton and Iveragh
participated in the course. The two-day course is specifically designed for coaches of Mini rugby (6-12yrs) where players are being introduced to rugby for the first time and participating in games of reduced numbers (8's, 10's and 12-a-side). The Munster Rugby Coach Development and community staff look forward to continuing to support these coaches in their clubs and schools.

A number of courses for different stages of coach development have already taken place throughout Munster over the past two months.

The next event is a Stage 2 Foundation Coaching Course in the MRSC Bar in Thomond Park this weekend (Friday and Saturday, October 7-8) and it is fully booked. This course is designed to enhance coaches' knowledge and understanding of the game and is relevant to those coaching at U13 to U16 level.

There are spaces available on the East Munster Stage 1 Mini Coaching Course in Clonmel RFC on Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th of October. To book your place on a course, please contact

The IRFU Referee Department also ran Affiliate Referee Courses in Irish Independent Park, Young Munster RFC and Crescent College Comprehensive recently. Trevor Collins and Peter Fitzgibbon delivered the workshops. Details on affiliate refereeing can be found here with more workshops to be run throughout the season.

The IRFU Concussion Awareness Workshops continue in Tralee IT (North Campus) next Wednesday, October 12, at 7.30pm and the following evening (Thursday, October 13) in Clanwilliam FC at 7pm with Shane Mooney on hand to present. These are pre-registration events, please contact janeburns@munsterrugby.ie if you wish to attend.
