Coach Development Update

The Munster Rugby Coach Development Department continue to support club and school coaches with developing their coaching competencies aligned to the IRFU Long Term Player Development (LTPD) and technical model.

They have now initiated their Coach and Player Development (CPD) Clinics and have held a number of clinics provincially over the past month.

Following the delivery of seven IRFU coaching courses in September and October, their focus now shifts to Coach and Player Development Clinics (CPD).

These are coordinated within the four regions with the lead Coach Development Officer (CDO) running bi-weekly sessions and focusing on enhancing both the player and coach's understanding and technical competencies of the game.

A cluster of clubs and schools are being invited throughout each region, allowing for smaller collaborated learning environments for coaches. The coach is tasked with developing practical competencies by coaching within the sessions and given/providing feedback thereafter. If you require any further details regarding these clinics please contact your designated regional CDO, as listed below.

An IRFU stage 1 (mini) coaching course will be run in Ennis RFC on Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3. This course is designed to accommodate coaches at mini rugby level, from U7 to U12. There are still spaces available on this course. Further details and an application form can be downloaded here.

Should you have any queries regarding coach development please contact your designated Coach Development Officer:
